How old do I have to be to get my learner's permit in Massachusetts?
You must be 16 years old in order to test for your learner's permit.
You must be at least 16 years old to test for your learner's permit. All new drivers, including adult new drivers, must pass their permit test before they can test for a driver's license. You are permitted to begin driver's ed at 15 years and 9 months to help you prepare for your learner's permit test.
