What is the e-DEC Form?

The e-DEC is the Driving School completion certificate. It is the evidence that you have completed driving school requirements prior to your license test.

To receive your e-DEC (Electronic Driver Education Certificate), you must meet the following requirements:

  • Achieve a score of 70% or higher on all classroom session quizzes.
  • Sign for every classroom session in your student portal (if you’re under 18, a parent or guardian must sign).
  • Ensure you have a valid Connecticut permit number on file.
  • Complete all required courses based on your age.

Once you have completed these requirements, your e-DEC will be available in the “Files” tab of your student portal within 5-7 days of course completion. From there, you can view and download your certificate. Once it’s available, you’re officially ready to take your road test! Please remember to bring it to your DMV road test. If you're testing with us, the certificate will be issued a few days before the test.

Important Update: As of November 1, 2022, the DMV no longer accepts CS-1 certificates.

Transitioning from CS-1 to e-DEC: If you previously received a CS-1 and now need an e-DEC, there is a $25 processing fee. This fee will be paid to The Next Street.

Need a rushed e-DEC? If you're testing with us, your e-DEC will automatically be issued a few days before your test, so there’s no need to request it. However, if you require your certificate within 72 hours or need a certificate for partial completion, simply fill out the form below, and we'll expedite it.
